It’s Awards Season! It’s the Rob’s Achievements in Odd Jacket Awards!
Dear Rob,
As you’ve noticed, it is Awards Season and we’ve noticed what you’ve been wearing. We’ve talked about your weird jacket at the PCA (fun letter by JenJadeEyes), and how great you looked in your navy Gucci suit at the Golden Globes. We were reminded how really great you look when you really pull out the stops (please see this). While we love, love, love your dressed up looks, we couldn’t help remembering some of the less successful, less chic, and well, downright hilarious ensembles.
We reviewed a very large number of pictures of you (A Rob Retrospective), and after we could think straight and breathe correctly again; we decided to hold our own awards for your Achievements in Odd Jackets.
Rules of our selection process: NONE!!!! We chose ensembles that we liked and that we wanted to talk about. We have left out many of your suit jackets, hoodies, windbreakers/baseball jackets (we left out the CMB jacket), and overcoats. We even included some jackets that we actually liked! We indiscriminately considered your own selections and items that you wore in photo shoots and in movies. Our selection committee consisted of us. Our qualifications for this, other than hours of examining photos of you, NONE! In other words, it was a completely subjective selection process.
Our Prizes: The recognition and gratitude of the faithful readers of LTR and if you’ll allow, we’d be happy to invite you to a Winner, Chicken (and Biscuits) Dinner with a Hot Pockets appetizer, a side of microwaved carrots and HobNobs for dessert. And plenty of your favorite beverage. Interested?
Without further ado, here are our choices!!!
In the Category of Early Attempts at Jacket Style, our choice is Two Jackets will Take Focus from my Jersey Shore Hair Bump.
This is our choice because its one of the first examples of Rob’s one-two jacket punch!
Honorable mention: Borrowing a lovely sweater from a BFF.
In the Category of Biker Chic, our choice is The Pink (Cheeks) Ladies Bomber. You are just so darn cute here and that shirt totally completes the look.
Honorable mention: embellishment with a duck and legendary underwear-shopping-trip attire.
For the Category of Lifetime Achievement in Jacket Attire, we MUST comment on each entrant.
Triple Threat: Your Mountain Man – or possible Trucker Man- attire is pitch perfect. This is really a Quadruple Threat as you have a t-shirt, a brown sweater, a blue windbreaker/baseball jacket and a black leather jacket. Were you visiting the Arctic?
Red Velvet Cupcakes: Rob, you know we think you look yummy around the clock, and somehow velvet makes you look like a tasty treat even more. It shouldn’t, but it does. We want to lick the frosting off. We love the colour combo you have going there in Bad Mother’s Handbook. But the Salvation Army classic at the GOF premiere remains our favorite.
Pre-Worn: This is a special selection. The sharp eyes of your fans noticed that Marcus Foster wore this shirt at his gig that you attended, and the next day, you wore the shirt and the jacket to the Teen Choice Awards. We’re all thinking that hotel laundry was not involved.
Pigeon Symphony: Yes, Rob, we know it is a designer jacket, but it looks like a flock of pigeons dive-bombed you (maybe in the Italian city square in New Moon?) and why does it have vaguely military patches on it? We don’t know. But then again, you probably don’t either…
T-Shirt Begone!: What can we say, this is such a special angle and there are buttons unbuttoned, why, why, why, why is there a t-shirt in the way?????
Pre-torn?: This is jacket with a ripped sleeve designer too? Like expensive pre-ripped jeans? Where can we buy it?
Chateau Dumpster Chic: Oh boy, this look launched a thousand jokes. You know the ones, as you are a loyal LTR reader since the first day.
My First Day of School: Ahhhh, there are so many cute things about this look. This is a prime example from your tiny jacket collection. It looks like you’re off to your first day of school. You have a sandwich* that your mother cut the crusts off of, an apple and a juice box in your backpack. (*Better known as stale chips and a can of Heineken when left on your own devices)
How Not To Be Wearing a Huge Plaid Coat: We can’t help but love this terrible coat from HTB. We believe that this coat was auctioned off for charity; we wish we had gotten it – it’s that terrible. Extra points for the fuchsia hoodie. Extra, extra points for the guitar.
Dalisicious: Oh my, this blazer is confusing us! Is it a dinner jacket? A velvet one? Or is it a posh pajama jacket? Your pants look like pajama pants, that’s why we ask…
Do you still remember this one? It really is almost as confusing as most of Dali’s paintings, or better said, it gives us an uneasy feeling too. Admit it, you didn’t like it either. You didn’t steal it, because we never saw you wearing this one in public. Come to think of it, we never saw you sport a Dali-stache either. We’re happy about that.
Mixed Media: This look is only achieving one thing; the need to rip the clothes off your body. But maybe not in the good way…This is overstimulating, but again; not in the good way. Lose the shiny jacket, lose everything apart from the Rolling Stones shirt. On second thought, we confiscate the Stones t-shirt and leave you wearing…………
Brown Sugar: It’s the much beloved brown bubble jacket (BBJ). ‘Nough said.
Crying Shame: You really should never have covered up the Stoli. Never, ever, ever. P.S. Where’s the Stoli???
Plaid in the Hood: We know you love plaid longtime, but so much that you’d work it into the lining of a perfectly regular jacket? Very subtle Rob, but not really…Next time just make it all plaid, you know you want to! P.S. Why not line the inside of the hood too?
The Shoes Make the Outfit: This jacket is okay, but the shoes, oh my, the shoes. Again, a classic.
And the WINNER IS:
Brown Sugar; The infamous Brown Bubble Jacket AKA BBJ!

Really! I know there have been attempts to get Rob a new Stoli. If we really want to get a new one to him, we shouldn’t send it to Rob, we should send it to another Brit Packer…I vote Tomstu.
Some group did get him a new one–they gave it to Peter Facinelli, who tweeted that he had delivered it to Rob. PFach is such a good sport. He made some comment like he’s just Rob’s delivery boy now.
I remember. And yet…he hasn’t been seen wearing it. I think he waits until TomStu wears something before he does. Like TomStu is his food tester to make sure there is no poison.

There is an explanation for the layering: In a Swedish interview, Rob said that he liked to dress in layers of clothing on promotion tours because “then people can’t see how fast my heart rate and breathing is!” Kind of adorable if it’s true. Personally I think he just forgets to take his clothes off a lot of times going to bed, so then he just puts on new clothes on top of them next day..
Fast heart beating and breathing . . . strange, this doesn’t make me think of interviews!

This new picture of DuRob is so delicious, I almost licked my computer screen! With all the glorious looks of Rob we’ve gotten in the last week or so, I think though, that I’m still gonna stick with one that’s currently plastered all over my world (home computer, laptop, 2 work computers and my blackberry). That’s the one with the Robowski cuddling the baby and showing him/her to Rosie/Tai the elephant. That one just melts my heart!

I read the book. I enjoyed it and I love period films as well. Pretty sure what your describing was a fade to sad in the book and hopefully NOT going to be fade to sad in the movie. For some reason, the look of Robroy just didn’t do it for me like Robowski. BUUUUT, the best thing about BA is the possibilty of NakedRob!!!!

Once upon a time, I may have thought myself abnormal for examining every picture up close & very carefully. But we’re talking about Rob here. That’s NORMAL. After all, we’re talking about the very threads & fabrics that cover his fine ass body. Kids need lunch? Too bad. Is it just me, or does Rob look like Chuck Bass in the Grandpa’s Freezing photo? Not that I have a problem with that. I actually sorta find it hot. Been looking for a suitable Rob image for MoTU – the suit pictures don’t do it for me – I work with suits all day long so I sort of associate suits with massive jerk offs. But the sweater, the Chuck-Bass-ish sweater and the rich-boy hair and pout and unbuttoned shirt. I think I have a winner. Now, off to read Ch. 17 – suck it, suits I work with, I’m taking a break now.

I can see him leaning up against his uber-modern office desk (no.dust.anywhere. – none, per Appendix 3a(1) of the Office Appearance Agreement), drawing circles on the brushed aluminum top with his lickable long fingers. Just to tease.

Nat: I found some pictures in my voluminous Robporn collection that I wanted to show you, but didn’t have a clue how to post them here. More than the suits and the tuxes it’s the f**k me stares that work the best for me for Fifty. I also like the ones where he’s looking sad, brooding and or tortured. Our funny, goofy, awkward, mischievous, hobolicious Robward doesn’t work at all, as I’m sure you already know. Hope you’re enjoying MotU.
I love Motu. So much fun, it’s like Edward as nature intended, you know? Don’t worry about the fuck-me photos, Grandpa Sweater Rob is very very much working for me, believe it or not. It’s the pout. Makes me wanna kiss him. I love the attention to detail in that story. When I finally get the kids to bed tonight (go to bed! mommy needs story time for herself!!!) All of the above. Or, alternatively, these photos clearly belong in a closet. I recommend putting them in the darkest closet you have. Put them in a shoe box, along with a bottle of Stoli. When the world gets rough, run to the closet, turn on a flashlight, break open the box and enjoy.

Did you need to see the bedrooms? No? You’ll take the house, no questions asked??”
Sign me up for one of those!! Don’t forget the microwave for Hot Pocket and Carrot dinners. And a cardboard Jumping Rob, forget that Edward he was soo 2009!
Yes I’ll take it! I’ll never want to leave that room! The room’s gonna be plastered with framed pictures of Rob….some of our favorites will be Oscar Rob, RomeRob, BIJ(Japan), Mexico Rob (ay caramba), Cannes Rob, Vanity Fair Rob, GQ Rob….Oh my goodness, it goes on and on!

i know i thought i was getting bored of him but the last week has sucked me back it, i’ve gotten nothing done!!!

– His layer tendency, I wonder whether he’s a “delayed gratification” kind of guy.
– Embellishment with a duck: rare indeed and priceless!
– Mixed media: after this outfit, nothing about his “personal clothing sense” will surprise me.. He couldn’t do it more… I run out of words, the mix is so wrong on so many levels that is almost a provocation, the epitome of dressed_to_be_undressed right there and then!
