Dear Rob,
No I’m not talking to your fans here or the crazy Twihards, I’m talking about your new costar: Paul Giamatti
Hey Paul, I think I speak for all of us when I say: “Get in line, friend!” We’ve got over 2 years of official stalking going on here. I don’t care if you’re costars or whatever. You have no official/secret documentation of your stalkership. Thus we must pull rank and insist you get to the back of the line.
BUUUTTTT we will make some exceptions… If you promise to do the following we may let you close to the front:
1. Word on the street is that in your movie with Rob he drives around in a limo all day and if we take a wild guess and assume YOU’RE the limo driver, can you promise us one day on set while you’re doing exterior shoots driving Rob around, you hit the lock button on the limo and then drive the limo to the nearest city where we live (UC is in Philly), unlock the doors, slow down to 10mph honk and wait for us to jump in? Can you do that? After that, you can ditch the limo, we don’t care. Go get a philly cheesesteak. Whatever.
2. You take your Sideways wine info and leftover bottles of vino to lure Rob into your hotel room/apt/whatever, get him drunk and then ask him all kinds of questions: do you read LTR daily or have an email alert? Did you “get lost” near a church in Vancouver just so LTR would blog about it? Do you call up TomStu for a photoop outing when you think the LTR girls have been good?
3. Fly down to Baton Rouge on the guise of “getting to know your future costar better” take secret cell phone camera shots of the set and any scenes involving Dadward and Renesmee and then send them back to us as proof that filming is actually occurring and not just one big Texas Hold ‘Em tourney in Rob’s hotel room.
Ok, if you promise to do these things we’ll let you into the stalking…. I mean FAN club. But we’re NOT drinking ANY merlot!

Paul’s quirkiness and Rob’s cute awkwardness will be epic as they got to know each other.
I never seen any Cronenberg’s film, has anyone? Was it good?
Eastern Promises and A History of violence are two of his more recent films- both very good, very gritty and very violent.

Yes, Eastern promises is a good, if violent, film and Viggo is to die for. He reminds me of another FF- Mobward in The Sacrificial Lamb. (Funny how everything reminds me of FF these days?)

These are both worth it- they are story and character driven- not slasher type movies. A History of Violence is particularly good in this regard- give it a try.

I second that. I don’t get into violent films at all, but I absolutely loved A History of Violence. Only Viggo could’ve pulled that off; he played that character ah-MAZE-ingly.
Niahid- I’ve seen A History of Violence and although it’s not my favorite genre it was a great film. I think you’ll be able to handle it! I did!

I am reading the novel now: it seems cold and a bit slick, but has some beautiful prose in it, pieces I already love, and I can see why they would want Rob for the lead: someone with a lot of charm and sex appeal, who can also project the cold and distant. I wonder what he will make of the character, though?
Cronenberg: I think he is for people with a stronger stomach than myself, since he seems too much into the weird and revolting, but he gets a lot of respect, so I’m sure it will be interesting to work for him, and with that great set of actors.
Is Paul Giamatti related to the director of Eclipse in any way? The thought just crossed my mind… 🙂

This is a fabulous idea. I could open up a Los Angeles branch – In-n-Out burger tour, that guitar store, WTF filiming sites, Malibu paps stalking route, etc.) We could start a little company called “LTR’s Rob Experience Tours” with our great ladies all over the world (Vancouver, Budapest, Baton Rouge, Rio, NYC, etc.) doing research and creating tours. Eventually we’d have to get Rob’s attention, don’t you think? He could make surprise appearances and we’d give him a cut – and whatever else he’d let us give him ;).

Do we know if Rob’s ever been to the OC? If so, we could start a side tour – sort of like going to NYC and then taking a tour of Brooklyn. If not, then sure, join me in LA. We’ll first have to scope out of all of his most famous haunts. I’ll need to look up where Stephanie Ritz’ apt. is. I think I can locate the house-where-Rob-and-The Nameless One-never-lived in Bel Air. I once spent a day stalking him at some parking lot in a seedy part of downtown LA where he was filming the nightclub scene from WFE. That would be a tour highlight, I’m sure……
Rob in the OC would be awesome! And a little nervewracking. I don’t think it’s happened yet. But I did drive by Fillmore and Malibu on my little mini vacay. Didn’t even try to persuade the girls to stop, had to make it thru the weekend with as little Rob-bashing as possible! Figured they wouldn’t buy the “I need to stop for research” line 😉
rfm: I had a similar experience with Filmore. I was driving with friends to San Luis Obispo and was dying to make a detour, but I knew I’d have to listen to Rob-bashing, etc. I did spend a long (3hr lunch) in downtown LA when I heard they were shooting the WFE nightclub scene 5 blocks from my office. I actually saw HHH in the distance for a nano second when he sprinted from his trailer to the his car. The car then drove right past me, but the windows were tinted dark black. Still, I was floating in the clouds!! I later saw on-line that if I’d gone back and waited until 4AM, Rob actually came out and talked to and took pictures with the few die-hard fans that were still there. Not sure I could have explained the 4AM part to the hubs tho. Damn, the hubs always gets in the way!!! 😉

I’ve read the book and I think Paul may play the Chief of Security. It’s a big role and offers some pivotal scenes with Rob’s character. He’ll do GREAT in it!
I’d give more insights into the book, but I don’t want to be a spoiler. Rob is going to play a very interesting character, unlike anything he’s ever done before. Cannot wait!
I´ m living in northern Germany but please don´t come here, it´s boring (no Olive Garden ;P ) and I have the feeling that here in Germany are no “Normal” fans, you´ll be all alone …. in the cold…. 😀

Paul sounds stricken. One. Of. Us. He’s probably new to this affliction, and he’s probably not exactly sure what to do with his budding yet overwhelming feelings for Rob. Should he act on them? Should he remain aloof? We must help and guide him. Must direct him to MotU (Pinot Noir pairs realllly well with MotU, I know this for a fact). Unless of course MotU is why he signed on to Cosmopolis. That could very well be the case.

I’m sure his parents and friends could help out with not only photographs but building a replica of his bedroom, framed dirty laundry, remnants of food and dirty plates he left under his bed after his Christmas break, old guitars he forgot about and unopened packs of underwear from his latest shopping trip..It would be like the Jane Austen museum, but smellier! Yay!
